How we did it

  • On October 30, 2026 we asked ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, through their own APIs with web search on and the location set to each city, the same questions a home buyer might ask (listed on each page).
  • 225 answers in 25 US cities. We pulled out every name each answer gave and merged spelling variants of the same name (for example with and without "Inc."). Everything else is as the AIs gave it.
  • To check the answers weren't luck, we asked the same questions again a few hours later. Names marked "Confirmed" were named by the same assistants both times; everything else on the page is from the first test.
  • We haven't checked the names, or anything the AIs said about them. AI assistants get things wrong, and their answers change, so this is a snapshot, not a ranking of who is best.
  • Nobody pays to be on these lists. We repeat the test every month.
